MOC: West Side School

Posted on Monday, 12th March 2018 by Caz

West Side School is a 1/4 block Micropolis module, built March ’18. mainly from some bits and pieces from a brick box. The oldest section has the red pitched rooves at the rear, with a new two-storey block built on what used to be the playground. Brightly coloured blocks make up the nursary and infants’ school. The kids of Micropolis now have no excuse not to go to school!

Seasonal: Easter Bunny & Friends Flower

I spent enough in the LEGO store in Gateshead the other day to earn two gifts with purchase. The first was the Easter Bunny Minifig and display box. I have to confess, I’m no fan of these fancy boxes, and I probably won’t be keeping it. Horror! you man say. Whatever.

The Bunny minifig itself is quite cute, with big pink ears, a smart bowtie and waistcoat, and apparently a new print on the egg.

I was expecting the bunny but I wasn’t expecting to also get this Friends flower polybag (30404).

It was another fun little build and will go well with my other gift with purchase flowers.

Brickheadz: Bunny & Bee

Until now, the whole Brickheadz theme had largely passed me by, as they depicted superheroes or Star Wars characters that I wasn’t very interested in. But when I saw the Valentine’s Bee and Easter Bunny, I decided they would be great to have in my collection.

On my visit to Newcastle this week, I popped into the Gateshead LEGO store and found them both in stock, so I bought one of each. Bunny was the first out of the box and it was an enjoyable little build.

I love those big ears, buck teeth and carrot in hand – not to mention a basket for two huge Easter eggs.

Next it was on to the Bee…

It is quite similar in construction, apart from having a couple of antennae instead of huge ears. Still very cute though. The bee comes with two variations of flowers to go with the heart and honeypot.

I’m not sure if I prefer the sunflowers or red roses…

They make cute additions to my collection and I suspect I might be investing in a few more different Brickheadz over the coming months – particularly some of the new ones which are due out this year.

Haul 19: Bricks & Beers

I forgot to mention that at the Bricks & Beers event last night, there were several speed building competitions, and the team I was on each won a Minifig – here is mine.

He’s someone from the Lego Batman Movie, but I’m not quite sure who. He doesn’t look very happy, anyway!

Perhaps mixing him up with my other minifigs will cheer the dude up a bit?

Haul #18: Sainsbury’s Benton

I had heard on the grapevine that Sainsbury’s were having a bit of a sale on LEGO. So I persuaded Alistair to take me to his local branch and I had a poke about to see what I could find. I came away with two copies of 10692 Creative Supplement and one of the 10401 Rainbow Fun boxes – the smallest of the 60th Anniversary of the Brick sets.

I will use the Rainbow Fun pack to build something for Micropolis, but I think I’m going to save the larger sets for a possible future venture. I’m not sure when I will get it up and running yet, but it’s good to have them in hand for the moment.
